Welcome to the first video of the NorthWestRants series where I rant about stuff! I bet you have noticed this trend of "first video" from storytime animators as well, so fittingly, I talk about "first videos" in this "first video". Do you like my character? Feedback welcomed!

I am a weird combo of engineer, vector artist, pianist and Hongkonger. Hopefully stuff make sense and perspectives are refreshing.

The NorthWestRants (NWR) series will run for a while (unless this video backfires so hard that I get cancelled), but episodes will be mixed in with my usual content. Expect maybe 1 episode per month. No promises.

Also, please check the description for corrections and clarifications. Fixing the script requires me to re-record, re-animate, re-export, etc. which gets annoying at some point so I just give up.

Corrections & Clarifications

  • Somehow I forgot to include the channel that started this entire overthinking. @yayalovesyou is the channel that triggered this.
  • Ringo's video ( @RingoTsuga ) is actually under the "Entertainment" category. Her video is what other creators regard as the start of this trend.
  • "Film & Animation" doesn't spell death sentence. Some videos did ok under that category, but still lower than "People & Blogs" on average.
  • Yes the hashtags are specifically picked as an attempt to cheese the algorithm.

    • YouTube is so broken when I press delete after editing a mention it deletes the entire description.
