September 18, 2022Eggs Benedict for Mother's DayI started this project as an assignment for a Podcasting class in my senior year of college. When starting the project back up I decided to rerelease the original episodes because I wanted my audience and myself to be able to see the evolution of my experimentation with audio storytelling. This episode was assigned for my final project in my podcasting class as a sort of trailer for what I hoped the show would become if I chose to continue. Since making this episode I have become inspired by more podcasts to play with more formats so this will not necessarily be the format of all future episodes. As I continue to learn and grow in my storytelling style, my episode formats will evolve with me. Egg's Benedict is a family tradition and a personal favorite. This episode features my mother, Leah Glickman, who makes this recipe every year for Mother's Day. ...more16minPlay
September 18, 2022Enchiladas and The Family We ChooseI started this project as an assignment for a Podcasting class in my senior year of college. When starting the project back up I decided to rerelease the original episodes because I wanted my audience and myself to be able to see the evolution of my experimentation with audio storytelling. This episode was assigned as an exploration of Natural Sound. I used the sounds of my own kitchen and dining room to create a "Sound Postcard" with the intention of inviting the listener into my environment. I enjoyed playing with Natural Sound for this assignment, elements of this process will definitely become a consistent part of the Nosh Natter vibe."The Family We Choose" is a concept my mother introduced to me at a young age. This episode focuses on Flora making a meal for nir college friends as an expression of love. If you've ever heard the song "White People Taco Night" by Lewberger, this meal is very much like that. These are not traditional Enchiladas and they don't pretend to be. I'd love to explore enchiladas in a traditional way with a guest to whom they are culturally significant. September 18, 2022Have You Ever Been Food Bullied?I started this project as an assignment for a Podcasting class in my senior year of college. When starting the project back up I decided to rerelease the original episodes because I wanted my audience and myself to be able to see the evolution of my experimentation with audio storytelling. This first episode was assigned as a Vox Pop format, man-on-the-street style interviews asking a series of questions to the general public to better understand popular opinion/experience around a topic and/or to highlight the diversity of those experiences. For this episode, I interviewed students at Purchase College in early 2020 about their favorite comfort foods and their experiences with food bullying throughout their lives. I hope to revisit the topic in a longer form with more nuance soon. Let's dig in....more5minPlay
