This is Nostalgia Pirates; it’s nearly fall everyone! That means four more months till it’s 2022 and for some of us it means 4 more weeks until we’re dragged out of our work from home pajamas and back into the offices we deserted in March 2020. If you forgot, this is the show where you come for fun reminders like butterfly clips, shaved or drawn brows, and straight leg jeans are back…but gen z is pretending it’s all new. And I know we’ve all heard the mashup of Misery Business and Good for You. We’ve seen the tiktoks. It’s the same damn song with new lyrics.
I’m your host, Sharde and that brings me to our movies of the day… It’s a double feature that might give you a little déjà vu. We’re watching action classic Point Break and its race car driving twin The Fast and the Furious.
This episode is made in affiliation with Better Voice, @yourbettervoice.com. I purchased their vocal steamer and vocal humidifier and I loved both products for their ability to help expand my vocal range, hydrate my vocal folds, and help me maintain vocal quality for each Nostalgia Pirates show I record. I usually steam my voice right after I wake up in the morning to get rid of any inflammation or phlegm build up from the night before. If you or someone you know is interested in buying a vocal steamer, or attending voice lessons with coach Alex go to @yourbettervoice.com and use code lace10 for 10% off all products.
Let’s get into the show! We hope you enjoy!
This is Nostalgia Pirates! The show where you come for a safe place to cry joyful tears about the release of Brandy’s Cinderella on Disney Plus, the reboot of Rugrats, and coming attractions like Kid90…while also shedding mournful tears over the collective realization that yes, we should have all just left Brittany alone.
In this episode we find Batman and Wonder Woman on their way to the Fortress of Solitude to spend time with Superman for his birthday. As a person going on their second covid-19 quarantine birthday, the irony of this choice is not lost on me. When Batman and Wonder woman arrive, they immediately find Superman standing in the middle of the icy cave with a parasitic plant stuck to his chest that is making him hallucinate a world in which Krypton was never destroyed, his parents never died, and he has a wife and child to call his own.
This is Nostalgia Pirates! Welcome to Season 2 of your favorite Saturday morning fix! We’re kicking this season off with a collaboration with one of my friends, actress and writer, and host of Liz Learns Classics, Liz Taylor!
Tune in as we breakdown the roller coaster ride of Robin William’s scifi enigma The Bicententiall Man and all the things that really make us human. Afterall, this is the show where you come for pleasant reminders like we’re in a New year, with a New president! We’ve got new ideas, new goals, and brighter dawns to live for. Yes, Covid 19 is still here and so is white supremacy but guess what baby so is this show. It’s season 2! And as long as we’re on lockdown, you can count on us to bring you movies, laughs and love.
This is Nostalgia Pirates!
Today we are watching The Fifth Element, one of my all-time favorite movies, starring Bruce Willis, Mila Jovovitch, and Chris Tucker as the unforgettable Ruby Rhod. This sci-fi adventure, hit the screens in 1997 when we were all still convinced cars would be flying by now and that we’d be dressed in neon plastic on a regular basis.
And we’re not watching it alone! Our special guest today is film director and television writer Brit Wigintton. Her films have won Jury prizes and International Design awards. Her pilot ranked top 50 in the 2018 Women in Film x Black List Episodic Lab. And her most recent writing credit includes Freeform’s Good Trouble. Check it out when you get the chance!

“This is Nostalgia Pirates. The show where you come for charming fun facts like I hit clips are now considered vintage and admit it! You were obsessed with yo-yos just like everyone else.
What’s up everyone! If you’re hearing the sound of my voice that means you survived the 2020 Presidential election and that alone is enough reason to get up, walk outside, and just scream till you feel free.
Join us as we watch the 1988 B-Movie classic, Killer Klowns from Outerspace!
“This is Nostalgia Pirates. The show where you come for friendly reminders like, Miss Cleo the night time psychic was the Hotline Queen of the 90’s and at some point, we are going to have to talk about Jackie Chan’s discography. Seriously.

I’m your host Sharde and today we are watching the 1988 B-Movie classic, Killer Klowns from outer space. Which was just….something. What an experience? Anyone who has already seen the movie, I’m sure knows exactly how I feel. If you haven’t seen Killer Klowns from outer space, this movie is exactly what it sounds like. Killer Klowns is a horror film about alien clowns who have crash landed on earth in a shooting star. They begin to make a meal out of all of the people in the town where they land starting with the teenagers WHO ARE JUST hanging out at their favorite make-out spot.

“This is Nostalgia Pirates. The show where you come for quaint reminders like every Wendy’s used to have an open salad bar inside and no the fact that you remember your AOL instant messenger nickname is not cool….sorry.
I hope all of you have taken the time this week to watch some of your favorite horror movies of the past, or made yourself some ginger cookies and a hot toddy or just gotten outside to enjoy this beautiful fall weather we’ve been having. We all deserve to unwind after the presidential wwe match, Jeff Goldblum and Mike Pence’s remake of The Fly, and the dueling pianos, I mean, townhalls.
I’m your host, Sharde, and today we’re watching The Thing. John Carpenter’s 1982 creature feature masterpiece. The movie in which Keith David deserved so much better."
