MATTHEW ODE is my guest on this episode. He is a testicular cancer survivor and since beating it, he has been sharing his story. He tells his story on hearing the news from his doctor that he has cancer at the age of 24. We talk about what motivated and inspired him to fight through this and how fitness played a huge role in his life before and after cancer. He also talks about what little things we can do to make improvements in our lives and to stop comparing ourselves to anything and anyone. It was a great chat!

My guest today is Ryan Turner, RD, CSSD, CDN. He is host of the Fuel You Podcast, Dietitian and Owner of FOOD IS FUEL NYC and is also Director, sports nutrition at Townhouse. Ryan and I had a great chat about nutrition. Amanda Odgers is my guest on this episode. She is a CPT, Nutrition Coach, Life Coach, and Trainer at F45. She recently started her own fitness business with her personal training and podcasting.
We discuss her training styles, her story on how and why she got to where she is, and gut health. She goes over her training methods and her Fitness, Nutrition, and Mindset philosophy.
She also reveals her battles with her gut health and how she improved herself by eating healthier and changing her lifestyle to a more healthier one. She also talks about her issues with gluten and what the alternatives for her are.
She admits that gluten free pizza from Dominos is better than the regular crust. Something I told her I would have to try considering I love Dominos.
Dr. Michaela Czernekova is my guest on this episode. She has a PhD in Cell Biology, is a yoga instructor and Health and Wellness Life Coach. She is from the Czech Republic. We discuss her life as a coach and how and why she got into coaching. She goes into little ways we can start building our confidence and allowing us to achieve our full potential. We talk about how some of us have unhealthy relationship with food and and unhealthy relationship with ourselves and what we can do to get into a more positive mindset. Had a great time talking with her and learning different ways to help cope with negativity, laziness, insecurities, etc. She also reveals her own way of how she gets herself motivated and inspired.

KRISTEN BEATTY is my guest on this episode. She is a former competitive figure skater, and was an avid gym goer and runner until she heard the most devastating news she ever heard in her life...CANCER! She found out in early November of 2021 that she had cancer and started chemo pretty much right away. She has endured 6 long 96 hour sessions of chemo and is now on the road to recovery and getting herself back into shape.
We talk about her journey pre and post cancer and how she has dealt with the news but also coping and adapting to a new lifestyle. She shows a lot of courage and bravery and strength with not only going through what she went through but to put herself out there and educate people and let them know that if anyone is going through something similar you have her support.
We also talk about hair loss, weight loss, mental health as well as dating while going through cancer and her new journey into getting back to her old self.

Kate Geller is my guest on this episode. She is a mental health advocate, recovering addict and fellow podcaster. I was introduced to Kate by Coach Tara Garrison. Kate specializes in shame and her podcast SHAME ON SHAME is dedicated to sharing her own personal experience and to help those who are going through similar experiences as she did such as bullying, insecurities, addictions, loneliness and lack of self confidence. She shared her own personal journey and her struggles with shame. We also discuss the idea of Guilt vs Shame and impact of social media when it comes to mental health.

We dive into IF (Intermittent Fasting) as well as the toxic information that is out there when it comes to nutrition and getting into this whole "diet culture". At the same time there are "trainers" out there who are spreading this misinformation. Fitness is simple but not easy. It takes work but there are ways for people to sustain a healthy lifestyle without sacrificing your sanity.

Matt talks about his fitness journey and how he got to where he is today. We discuss exercise and nutrition and how people who are just starting out can get overwhelmed and discouraged by the wrong information that is put out there on social media. We also talk about how we both fell for fitness traps early and learning there is more than just spending time in the gym. Nutrition and rest are equally important to get the biggest best results.
The overall message from Matt is getting in shape and becoming healthy doesn't have to be hard. Making small adjustments to start is key to making this fitness journey sustainable.
