Sunday Homilies with the Redemptorists

Not Alone but loved by God - Can we recognize that and make a difference today?

Listen Later

After Easter Sunday, we follow the readings that detail the disciples' journey after the resurrection of Jesus. They realise that Jesus is God and because they love him, they will keep His commandments.

We ask ourselves, ‘Have I gone through a similar journey of recognising who Jesus is?’ We all have our individual journeys, where we ultimately encounter Jesus who is fully God and fully human, thus, knowing that Jesus loves us and hence, we will keep his commandments and assume the true identify of a Christian.

As St Peter says, we have to give a reason for the hope that we have, why we hang on to our hope, despite the suffering. As a Christian, it is not a personal faith, but one that challenges us to go make a difference in the world.

This is our Easter challenge, that we experience Jesus, anchor ourselves in a deep relationship with Jesus and experience this relationship by being faithful to the Kingdom values. And as Jesus told us in the Ascension, we are not alone, He is always with us, and He will send us the Holy Spirit.
