The Copa Libertadores has returned for another year of South American football drama as sides search for Gloria Eterna and we're already seeing some delicious ties forming in the final qualifying round for the Group Stage.  Ollie and Dave discuss the big boys from Brazil, Santos and Gremio, Argentinas San Lorenzo, Independiente del Valle and Atletico Nacional and a whole lot more as eight side prepare to fight it out for the last four spots in the Libertadores 2021!!

The new Copa Sudamericana based podcast the "Sudplementary Podcast" brings you a preview to the second competition in South America.  The football hasn't changed but the format has so here's a look at the 2021 format, teams and a little history behind South American soccer's sister competition.   

After lifting the Copa Libertadores just a few days ago, the FIFA Club World Cup looms on the horizon for Abel Ferriera's Palmeiras side.

#29 Palmeiras are 2020 Copa Libertadores champions! Ollie and Dave discussed an explosive end to a drab final which ultimately saw Palmeiras lift the Libertadores title for just the second time in their history.  We zoomed in on the 90+14 minutes, chatted about Cuca's t-shirt, the fans, Santos no-shows and of course Breno Lopes' late, late header.  We then zoomed out to select our tournament XI's (hipster choices applied), player of the tournament and favourite goal of the competition. There was even a spare second to glance ahead to the Club World Cup and 2021 Libertadores. 

#28 David and Ollie get ready for the big one. The Copa Libertadores Final in Rio is a all Brazilian affair, as Santos face Palmeiras. #27 Defensa y Justicia lift the CONMEBOL Sudamericana trophy on Saturday night and just after the full-time whistle Dave and Ollie breakdown Hernan Crespo's side's win over Lanus and a first continental trophy for the club. 

#26 The bright lights of CONMEBOL club football flash away from the Copa Libertadores and focus on the Copa Sudamericana this week with the competition's final taking place in Cordoba, Argentina, this Saturday.

Its a all Argentinian affair with 2013 winners Lanús meeting Hernan Crespo's Defensa y Justicia.  Ollie and David preview the final and talk all things Sudamericana this week.

#25 Dave and Ollie break down what they saw this week in the Copa Libertadores semi-final second legs as Palmeiras hold on against River Plate and Santos sink Boca in Brazil.

#24 Dave and Ollie discussed the 1st legs of both Copa Libertadores semi-finals.

We contemplated the (probable) end of an era for Marcelo Gallardo at River Plate, alongside plenty of praise for Palmeiras’ clinical attack.

Elsewhere at La Bombonera we picked apart Boca 0-0 Santos – one for the purists.

And the big question; is it possible for a team to win the Libertadores with Franco Soldano up front?

Aside from the matches, we touched on Panenka penalties, 2nd leg predictions & Roberto Carlos’ freekick vs France in 1997.
