Imagine having an enemy that doesn't just speak poorly of you but is actually out to kill you!
That is the situation facing David. His enemy Saul did it all. He lied about David, he took away his wife, AND he tried to kill David again and again and AGAIN. And yet, when David learned of Saul's death, David mourned deeply.
How could David mourn Saul? The answer is that David guarded his heart against bitterness. He did not allow himself to become bitter against his enemy, and there are great lessons for each of us in this. In fact, Hebrews 12:15 warns, "looking carefully lest anyone fall short of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up cause trouble, and by this many become defiled."
Join me for this special episode of R&R as we resume our study on the life of David, and learn how to guard our hearts against bitterness.
