Not in a Huff with Jackson Huff

From "babysitting" a radio station to being listened to by the President of the United States. This week we explore the life of one of the biggest radio DJ's of the 80's and 90's, Kim "Kid" Curry. We talk about those early days in Colorado, his time managing the hottest Top 40 station in America, and his fateful visit to the White House. We also talk about the next stage in his career that came in 2005 when he was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. We talk about the affect it had on his mental health and the books he has written since this change. We also discuss disability awareness, the Fairness Doctrine, and A LOT more. This was an amazing conversation!

This weeks conversation is magical in more ways than one when I speak with LA-based magician Magical Katrina. She shares with us how her career started in magic with a stop along the way at CLOWN SCHOOL, how she was featured in The CW's "Penn and Teller Fool Us", and how she adapted during the pandemic to virtual magic shows. This was a fun conversation with a really fun entertainer in a world I knew very little about.

How do we save the planet? This week we try to explain just that when I am joined by world-renowned conservationist Leif Cocks. He tells us about his work as the CEO and Founder of the Orangutan Project and why it is so important to protect these amazing creatures habitat, which is quickly dwindling. This conversation is looked at from a lens of how protecting this one specific can in turn protect many others which snowballs into protecting our planet as a whole. This was a powerful, but at times uncomfortable conversation to have as Mr. Cocks is very blunt in his warnings of how dire he feels the next few years is to our world as we know it. You won't want to miss it!

From Catholic seminary to Buddhist monastery. This week I speak with Bern Callahan who after several years as a Catholic Priest decided his calling was somewhere else and that somewhere was in meditation and the ancient teachings of Buddha. What happens when the average weekly grocery runs and stable six figure salary job is no longer enough? Well, for one couple the decision was to step out of their comfort zone and start on a life of travel. For Alise Saunders it meet converting you business to one that allowed her to be a digital nomad. For her husband it meant retiring and finally deciding to take the leap into full time travel. From stories for walking lizards to jealous horses this was a fun conversation with a couple we gave up on a "normal" life to chase their dreams.

This week we travel from bowling alleys to rug thefts with Reverend Gary Silvia as he tackles two monumental task. Trying to explain the movie "The Big Lebowski" and the Dudeist religion that come from it all to me. I could not think of a better guy to break it all down. Because, what started out as a fun thing to honor a chill movie has turned into quite a movement that has been at the forefront of Zen culture and even gay marriage. I expect to talk about something created a bit in jest, but found something that whether you dig it or not is the most serious, non-serious religion out there with a lot of great things to teach us! DUDE....You have got to listen to this one.
