Hey everybody! Welcome to episode 121 of the Not Joanna Eggs podcast! This week, Robin and Tracy review the 2020 Irish animated film, Wolfwalkers. Produced by Cartoon Saloon and directed by Tomm Moore and Ross Stewart, it follows the story of Robyn, a young English girl living in 1650s Ireland, and her interactions with a feral wolf girl named Mebh living in the neighboring forest. With themes of acceptance, questioning authority and found family, Wolfwalkers is a challenging and moving film with gorgeous animation, well-rounded characters and beautiful music.
*Note: We do get into spoilers with this review so make sure you check out the movie (streaming on Apple TV+) first before listening! *
We had a great time reviewing this film and hope you enjoy our review! Thank you so much for listening!

Hey everybody! Welcome to episode 117 of the Not Joanna Eggs podcast! This week, join Robin and Tracy as they discuss the 2020 Disney animated series, The Owl House, with guests and friends of the show @MeeklySheepling and @Jacob_Davison.
The magical and quirky animated show follows the story of Luz Noceda as she learns to become a witch through the teachings of her curmudgeonly mentor, Eda, and the cuddly megalomaniac, King.
Join them as they discuss the numerous dunks on the Harry Potter series lore, the inclusion of many fantasy trope subversions and the insatiable energy of the lead character. Who is also a big old bisexual nerd and we love her for it.

Hey everybody! Welcome to episode 116 of the Not Joanna Eggs podcast! This week, Robin and Tracy review the 2010 stop motion animated film, Moomin and the Comet Chase. Featuring the iconic characters from the classic comic franchise, it follows the last moments before the imminent deaths of Moomin and his folksy counterparts. Not really but man, does it feel like it.
Join them as they discuss the handmade aesthetic of the animation, Sniff being the WORST and whether a curtain in front of a cave is adequate protection from a comet's impact. These aren't the hard questions, but they're certainly the ones being asked.
We made the most of this movie (as flawed as it is) and hope you dig this review!

Hey everybody! Welcome to episode 115 of the Not Joanna Eggs podcast: this week, Tracy and Robin discuss the 2019 Amazon Prime animated series, Undone.
From the writers and producers of Bojack Horseman (Kate Purdy and Raphael Bob-Waksburg), it follows the story of a troubled young woman seeing visions of her deceased father asking for help solving his murder. Join them as they discuss the strongly written supporting characters, why sometimes it's good to have a slightly unlikable protagonist and the effectiveness of using rotoscoping animation for the show's dreamlike presentation.

Hey everybody! Welcome to episode 114 of the Not Joanna Eggs podcast! This week, Tracy and Robin review the 1981 Japanese anime film, Chie the Brat (Jarinko Chie).
Based on a long running manga series, this film was directed by Isao Takahata (Pom Poko, Grave of the Fireflies) and follows the story of a surprisingly responsible but short-tempered young girl, Chie, and her life running a small restaurant and reining in her deadbeat dad, Tetsu.
Join them as they discuss Tetsu being more of a dum-dum than a himbo, Chie's adorable relationship with her mother and the weird subplot involving cat testicles. (I mean, it was a thing with the tanuki in Pom Poko too, but this is just becoming a pattern now!)

Hey everybody! Welcome to episode 112 of the Not Joanna Eggs podcast! This week, Tracy and Robin review the 1995 Japanese anthology anime film, Memories, produced by Katsuhiro Otomo, creator of Akira.
Join them as they discuss pouring one out for the dearly beloved Satoshi Kon, some unfortunately topical pandemic-related subject matter and why you can't have a compelling short based solely on world-building. We enjoyed checking out this film out and hope you enjoy our review! Thanks for listening!
