This story captures the social nuances of high school life with its cliques and drama. The narrator recalls a poignant moment in this small-town school when a beautiful and vibrant newcomer befriends a sickly, unpopular boy. As years pass, for the narrator, both as observer and participant in the tale, the need for redemption becomes ever more apparent.

Anita goes it alone for the first short narrative in Season Two of Not Just Any Other Story. It is fitting for a piece called, "Alone, Alone at Last". Sit back and enjoy the rich descriptions of scenes at the lake as well as Anita's innermost thoughts of being alone in nature, thoughts that sometimes lead to an overactive imagination.
