As Missey and Asha review Chapters 8 & 9 from the book of Proverbs,they point out what may seem obvious… There are many voices calling to our Adult Children. Unfortunately, what’s not so obvious is sometimes which way they should go. Yes the Bible is pretty clear about some choices but others require prayer. Listen as we discuss not just wisdom and folly but also when to just keep our mouths shut because sometimes our children aren’t listening anyway.

Proverbs Chapters 5, 6, & 7:As parents we have lots of opinions about who is ideal for our adult children. However, those opinions about how neat they keep house, their personality or even their looks mean nothing compared to that person’a integrity and motivations. What your child should not chase, however, is an adulterous situation. How do you start that conversation? This episode also includes a quick discussion about judging our kid’s friends and love interests on social media.

Not only does Proverbs talk about the advice we give our adult children but this chapter reminds us of the advice we got from our parents! Verse 18 has an amazing promise that “The path of the righteous is like the morning sun, shining ever brighter till the full light of day”! What a great contrast to those who don’t seek wisdom and a life focused on what God gives. Listen as we discuss how to guard our hearts as parents and how to encourage our children to guard theirs.

With all the stress and anxiety in the world our adult children need to know what it will take to lay down in perfect peace and actually sleep- honestly, that’s a relationship with God and an understanding of the Wisdom he gives. In this episode we discuss modeling tithing, living God’s best for our lives, and understanding that our Heavenly Father uses discipline to teach us the path we need to follow. Chapter 2 of Proverbs is so insightful. Over and over we’re reminded that without wisdom we and our adult children will suffer the consequences brought on from ignoring God’s best for our life. But there’s one area of our adult children’s life that really requires an invitation- their dating life. Long before you say to them, “I don’t think they’re the one for you.” a lot of love, kindness, wisdom, and grace have to be walked out. If you’ve not been building towards that conversation or they’re already married- then just work on keeping the doors of communication open. Because they need you. Whether it’s dating, their job, raising kids, or choosing a college- our Adult Kids need Wisdom to set them on the right path. If they will seek it as if selling precious silver and hidden treasure it will completely change their lives. So sit down, enjoy the conversation.
