March 18, 2022 Being a Weekend Rockstar and How Music Influences Our Children and Their Emotions
This episode, I spoke to the front man of the Metallica tribute band, Damage Inc. Clint is another Western Sydney dad and in recent weeks has seen the damage the Queensland and New South Wales floods have been affecting people. We sat down and spoke about music, the influence it can have on our kids and how its our responsibility to teach children that music is open for interpretation and is only negative when you look at it through a negative lens. Clint also spoke about how great it feels to be a positive influence on the kids who have seen his shows and the gratitude he has when he hears he has inspired someone to take up music. Clint along with the rest of the band recently celebrated Damage Inc's 18th birthday! We also talk a little bit about those teachable moments that arise with our kids and how we can effectively communicate with them so they understand the viewpoint of an adult in a child's mind and vice versa. February 05, 2022 We Got Out: Leaving a Cult, Reclaiming Our Lives and Family Connections
Sarah and Nippy were in the NXIVM (said Nexium) cult for 12 and 16 years respectively. In early 2017, Sarah was invited into a secret women's sect of the cult called DOS. She was asked to strip naked, was blindfolded and led into a room with several other women. She was then instructed to repeat the words "Master, would you brand me? It would be an honour" and she was branded with the cult leaders initials. It wasn't long after, that Sarah and Nippy along with a small band of close friends, blew the whistle and alerted the media and authorities about the crimes of Keith Raniere. He ended up being sentenced to 120 years in prison for sex trafficking and racketeering charges among others.
In this episode, I spoke to Sarah and Nippy about their experiences within the cult, how they got out and how they have begun their healing process to regain their lives and families. They now have a podcast in its 3rd season called A Little Bit Culty, where they speak to cult experts, whistleblowers and other cult survivors.

Michael Ray is a dad and single parent. He describes himself as a SoloDad. He has spoken on global media about his journey as a single father and the motherhood stereotypes he has come up against while raising his daughter. Michael is an advocate for all fathers and works on breaking gender and parental stereotypes and stigmas.
This episode, I sat down with Michael and we discussed a particular situation he found himself in, where he had to fight to be allowed backstage at his daughters ballet recital so he could encourage and champion her. We also talk about the social stigmas and stereotypes around parenting and how they can negatively impact fathers who want to have a hands on approach in their childrens lives as nurturers. G'day G'day! Nate here! The host of (not so) Secret Dads Business! Unfortunately this week, I won't be releasing an episode and probably won't release one for a while. For how long, I'm not sure yet.
I've been looking back at the past year that I've been podcasting and it has been a blast but I can see that there are improvements that I can make to bring you a more entertaining and engaging show.
I apologise that this break is a little abrupt but I think its worth taking the time to tweak a few things in post production to make a better show.... FOR YOU. So I'm taking some time to do just that.
