Today, on Notable Leaders’ Radio, I speak with Taylor Jacobson, Founder and CEO of Focusmate. He highlights the importance of embracing collaboration, asking for help without shame, and gives tools for overcoming procrastination.
In today’s episode, we discuss: .
Embrace Being a Beginner. Don’t be afraid to start something new, even if you're not great at it initially. The only way to improve is through consistent practice, and giving yourself permission to have a “shitty first draft” is crucial for growth.
Ask for Help Without Shame. Embrace collaboration by asking others for support or to simply keep you company while you work. Recognize that asking for help is a strength, not a weakness, and can boost productivity and focus.
Prioritize Tasks That Energize You. Focus on doing tasks that bring you energy and passion, and don’t be afraid to delegate the ones that drain you. Asking for help not only lightens your load but allows others to shine in their strengths.
Guest Bio:
Taylor is on a mission to heal the culture of fear and shame around productivity and help people give their gifts with love and confidence.
Focusmate offers a supportive online community where open-minded people can experience the joy of getting things done together. To date, Focusmate has hosted over 9 million co-working sessions for members in over 170 countries worldwide.

Today, on Notable Leaders’ Radio, I speak with Tammy Klotz, the Chief Information Security Officer at Trinseo. She highlights actionable strategies for elevating leadership and team performance.
In today’s episode, we discuss:
Establishing clear boundaries. Define and communicate each person's responsibilities and how they impact their teammates and the overall project to develop strong collaboration across teams and functions.
Fully embrace resiliency and cultivate it in your team. Resilience is developed when we learn from failures and setbacks as a team. Use these experiences to fuel determination, individual growth, and more profound team resiliency.
“Never let a good crisis go to waste.” In Cyber Security, there are no “I will get to it later” crisis calls for immediate action. Once calm has been restored, it is time to gather your team(s), dissect all that happened, and identify the elements that need to be altered, enhanced, deleted, newly developed….
Foster individuality and motivate your team. Encourage your team members to develop their unique strengths and identities. Avoid forcing conformity; instead, celebrate their uniqueness and energize them with motivational moments. Use quotes, stories, or insights to keep them focused and positive.
Building trust and respect. Cultivate trust and respect within your team by consistently demonstrating empathy and grace. Recognize the impact of your actions and words on others, and strive to create a supportive environment.
Guest Bio: Tammy Klotz is a vibrant and accomplished executive and best-selling author with over three decades of diverse experience in the manufacturing industry, specializing in cybersecurity and transformational leadership.
She also offers keen expertise in navigating mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures within both publicly traded and privately held companies and is seasoned in security, risk, and compliance leadership.
Tammy brings a dynamic and positive approach to problem-solving, excelling in simplifying intricate IT and cybersecurity concepts and facilitating pragmatic, non-technical dialogues that resonate with business executives.
She is recognized as a strong, knowledgeable, thoughtful security executive who excels in public speaking and thought leadership, striving to empower others through knowledge sharing.

Today, on Notable Leaders’ Radio, I speak with Jose Berlanga, Real Estate Investor, Author, and Speaker. He shares his life experience of being on death's door at age four and how he developed an enlightened perspective on using his challenges for good.
In today’s episode, we discuss:
“Life carves you into the person you eventually become,” says Berlanga. Overcome obstacles with the knowledge that there is learning in every experience that will guide you on your journey.
Use your challenges to your advantage. Approach them with a problem-solving attitude rather than a victim of the challenge.
“Don’t let yourself be taken over by these circumstances.” “Did my situation bother me? Yes, it affected me. Was it difficult? Extremely. But I made it a point not to stop living, to listen to myself/intuition and do what I needed to do.”
Successful entrepreneurs take risks, understand uncertainties, know from the get-go that it will be difficult, and learn the lesson in every "failure".

Guest Bio:
In every facet of his life and endeavors, real estate investor, author, and speaker Jose Berlanga is a force of unwavering tenacity.
At only four years old, Jose found himself at death’s door following a devastating accident that left his body covered in third-degree burns. He spent his childhood growing up in various hospitals, leaving behind both physical and emotional scars that would carry into his adulthood. Determined not to let tragedies solely define his life story, Jose set out to make a name for himself.
Led by his passion and curiosity for the business world, entrepreneurship came naturally to him. Jose’s entrepreneurial pursuits have spanned numerous industries, with one thing remaining constant: his persistence and level of involvement. With all his pursuits, Jose takes a hands-on approach, getting involved in the day-to-day of all departments at what many may consider an unusual level. This involvement ranged from hiring and training hundreds of people, to personally negotiating a few thousand real estate transactions, both buying and selling.
Jose has achieved multimillionaire status four distinct times, in four separate industries: an import/export company for machinery for the Petrochemical industry, investments including a chain of Italian coffee bars, a residential construction company, and lastly, land development & construction.
Each success was a feat of starting from ground zero and meticulously building his wealth anew. His journey has involved constructing complex business infrastructures, only to lose them to factors beyond his control, such as economic downturns, currency fluctuations, and world financial crises. Alongside his four multimillion-dollar endeavors, there have been countless other businesses, too.
Despite facing monumental setbacks, Jose has consistently risen from the ashes of lost enterprises, reinventing himself, venturing into new industries with renewed vigor and determination, and found even greater success in each new endeavor.

In today’s episode, we discuss:
today’s episode, we discuss:
Living in wisdom requires curiosity, compassion, forgiveness, grace, self-awareness, and intentionality.
Learn to move forward on a new path without bringing past issues/stories with you. You can’t solve today’s technical issues with yesterday’s technology. The same is true for you.
Is it the journey or the destination that creates sustainable success and fulfillment?

Allow your creativity and bravery to come together for a purpose and deep fulfillment..
Slow and steady wins the race. She tells us, ”Making change, especially meaningful change that requires us to think and dream and be bigger and more purposeful - it’s not easy, but sitting in that uncertainty and allowing answers to come is truly one of the most important skills that anyone can develop.”

Today, on Notable Leaders’ Radio, I speak with Stephanie Baker, Chief Experience Officer at WAEPA. She shares the role her life experiences, learnings, and challenges have played in guiding her all the way to the C-suite.
In today’s episode, we discuss:
Never give up! No matter what others say or think if you are met with resistance when you speak up…keep on going while leaning into your support system
To live your most robust life and career, be open to new things, curious about what is possible, and have an unquenchable thirst for knowledge, This will serve you in ways you can’t imagine.
When living through challenging times in your life and career, it is important to take time out for yourself.. Celebrating your wins, both large and small. Evaluate the situation, what is here to learn from, how will you show up differently next time, how can you use this experience to become even better, stronger, and wiser at what you do.
Don’t wait for your mentor to find you. Identify the person with the experience, vision, and shared values…and ask them to mentor you to achieve all you desire. That is how Stephanie found her first mentor. Working with him taught her things about herself that she didn’t know and built a strong foundation of confidence that still serves her today.

Today, on Notable Leaders’ Radio, I'm going to talk about how to set yourself up for more successful communications. There is a way to really be heard. Tune in to learn my top communication hacks.
In today’s episode, we discuss:
There is great power in establishing rapport. This one step turns a potentially challenging conversation into a productive/successful meeting.
Learn to communicate in a way that defies triggers. How do you handle things when the person you are speaking with gets triggered or even more challenging, when YOU get triggered?
The transformation that takes place when you understand the best way to connect with people.
Successful conversations must have a pre-planned beginning, middle, and end. Be clear on what you want to say and where you want it to end.
Leaders should show up to hard conversations with the intentions of creating safe space, and valuing the recipient. So even though the conversation may be challenging, they should know that it is being shared for their benefit and to meet their goals.
