  • The Messiah—the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world—atones for the sins of all people by crucifixion.
  • Jesus reminds anyone with ears to hear that all of this is happening according to Scripture. He directs everyone's attention to Psalm 22. Jesus leaves no doubt for future generations that God has foreseen this event, communicated clearly about this event’s design, and accepts Jesus’ death as a substitutionary penalty payment for man’s rejection of Him.
