The Walnut Grove school is in need of some funding to help with repairs and school supplies. The only way they can acquire it is if the existing curriculum is expanded. While Laura thinks adding more studies would be overwhelming not just for her but also the students, Harriet steps in/is drafted to the task. While the subject matter she has choosen is questionable for the area, the students continue to make strides in their education.
