Nowata Methodists Podcast

This is a report on the ministries of the Nowata Methodist Church over the last year. It details many of our ministries and efforts, with many links and references for those who have not been along for the ride with us. It also paints a portrait of the directions we may go from here, and the reasons we have to be hopeful for the future. God has been very good to this little church. Take a few minutes to learn how!

This Sunday was the final Sunday of Advent and happened to fall on Christmas Eve. This week we read from 2nd Samuel 7, Psalm 89, Romans 16, and Luke 1.

This week we continue in the season of Advent with readings from Isaiah, Psalm 126, 1st Thessalonians, and the Gospel of John.

2nd Sunday of Advent. Our readings this week were Isaiah 40:1-11, Psalm 85, 2nd Peter 3:8-15, & Mark 1:1-8. Join us as we reflect on the anticipated coming of our Lord.

This last week we kicked off the season of Advent, the period of time before the Christmas season. We read from Isaiah 64:1-9, 1st Corinthians 1: 3-9, & Mark 13:24-37 all of which reflect the desire for God to come and rule over Earth and what that looks like for believers.

This week we study the book of Obadiah the prophet. In this book we find the prophecy concerning the destruction of the kingdom of Edom. Join us as we look into the cultural and historical context of the shortest book in the Old Testament.

This week we closed out our study of the Book of Jonah. Join us as we dive into the final chapter of this book, looking at the historical and theological implications of this unique book of the Bible.

In chapter 3 of the Book of Jonah we find that the prophet has made his way to Nineveh, just as God commanded him to do, but what the King and the city then do is surprising. Join us as we discover what happens in chapter 3.

This week we dive into chapter 2 of the Book of Jonah. Last week we left off with Jonah being tossed overboard by the crew of the ship in an attempt to calm the sea. What happened to Jonah after this? Did he die? What was his prayer to God? And what other things happen in the second chapter of this book?

This week we start off in the first chapter of the Book of Jonah. Most people remember the story from children's church but let's take a look at it with the eyes of an adult. In this podcast we cover the entire first chapter of the book from its place in history, to its connection to the New Testament.
