Not only can nurse practitioner schools be demanding, but many students also have duties other than being students, such as working and being parents😵‍💫

On top of that, international students have additional stress, such as language and cultural barriers and anxiety related to uncertainty about visa situation😬

Also, the financial burden of paying tuition can be very stressful for both American and international students💸

2015年に北海道の看護大学卒業後、神奈川県厚木の病院に就職。循環器消化器内科2年、ICU1年、脳外科病棟半年。その後結婚を機に脳外科クリニックに就職し、そこで訪問看護ステーション立ち上げから、M&Aを経験し、２箇所の訪問看護ステーションの管理者に。2021年夫の仕事の都合でアメリカに引っ越すことになり、アメリカで看護師免許を取得し2022年からアメリカでRNとして訪問看護ステーションで働く。もっとアメリカの医療を勉強したいと思い、2023年12月から病棟のMed Surgで勉強中。

こんにちは！🙋‍♀️私は三浦未喜です。

私はアメリカハワイ州でナースプラクティショナー（NP）をしています。元々は日本生まれ、日本育ちで、聖路加看護大学（現・聖路加国際大学）を出た後、東京の大学病院で勤務したのちに、アメリカでNPになるために25歳の時に渡米しました。元々帰国子女でもないのですが、色々な戦略法を使ってアメリカの大学院を首席で卒業することができました。最終学位としてはハワイ大学からDoctor of Nursing Practice (DNP・看護実践博士)を取っています。

Prescribing medications is one powerful way for nurse practitioners to help patients overcome diseases and conditions💊

I prescribe medications every day as a part of treatment plans👩‍⚕️

I precept family nurse practitioner students and realized that students often don’t learn how to write prescriptions in their programs.

We all take a pharmacology class, but the class focuses more on the science side, which is important, and not much on the practical side, like how to write prescriptions and choose correct medications and dosages.

In this quick tutorial, I will teach you how to write prescriptions in outpatient settings so you can better prepare for your upcoming clinical rotations and feel confident about your performance💪

This episode is about “How to come up with great DNP project ideas (with  Kathryn Daub, EdD, CNE, CTN-A)”

If you are going to enter a DNP (Doctor of Nursing Practice) program, you need to come up with a great idea for your DNP project as early as possible.

Some DNP programs ask applicants to write about their ideas for DNP projects during the application process, so you need to start thinking of what you want to work on for your DNP project as soon as you are considering applying for DNP programs.

But many prospective students have no idea what DNP projects are and how to choose a great topic for their DNP project (Don’t worry, I was like that also!)

In this episode, I welcomed Dr Kathryn Daub, who was a professor at the University of Hawaii at Hilo for 26 years and the director of the program for 16 years before retiring recently. She helped many DNP students (including me!) to successfully complete DNP projects.

Dr Daub will talk about common mistakes students make and give advice on what to consider when deciding on a DNP project topic☝️
