  • 004. E3 2015
    ReleasedJul 16, 2015
Warnings: Spoilers for E3 2015. This is our very first non-interview episode of NPC Talk! Although for a majority of our episodes we like to talk about
some of the greatest games released, here on NPC Talk we try to dive into everything related to video games, including news and events that affect the future.  So for today's
episode we talk about the annually anticipated event E3, where many companies share their plans for the following year and announce exciting titles.  With Anthony and Roger
joining me, we share our thoughts on why some of the announcements are revolutionary, and why others fail our expectations.  Because the event had so much going on
simultaneously, we weren't able to cover absolutely everything (although admittedly I cut the episode a bit short), but we do a fine job of describing the bulk of the news and we
hope it's enough to spark interest for the next gaming year.  Below is a brief list of what we cover: Sony 1. The Last Guardian 2. Shenmue 3 3. Final Fantasy VII Remake 4.
Kingdom Hearts 3 5. Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness 6. Horizon: Zero Dawn Microsoft 1. Xbox One updates (backwards compatibility, new controller) 2. Dark Souls 3,
Assassin's Creed: Syndicate (Roger wanted to mention it), Halo 5 (all needed embellishment) 3. ReCore 4. Fallout 4 and Fallout Shelter Nintendo 1. Why Nintendo E3 was a
disappointment (Zelda announcement, Metroid Federation Force) 2. Mario announcements (Mario and Luigi Paper Jam, Super Mario Maker) Recording date: 06-24- 2015

  • 003. Meet the guest, Anthony!
    ReleasedJul 16, 2015
Warnings: Possible spoilers on Top 3 games. On Episode 3 of NPC Talk, we bring in Anthony, the third member (after me and Roger) of our four man
co-op gaming crew.  With sound quality slowly becoming more normalized, our podcast still suffered from being underground.  The episodes were being hosted by Tumblr,
which meant that they were uploaded at a low 24kbps (sometimes even 16) to fit the memory restrictions. They did offer an excellent play counter for the embedded player,
something which I could not find a suitable replacement for when switching to Wordpress, although I'm sure there's a good one out there somewhere (or maybe one day I'll code
my own).  In any case, Anthony reminisces on his Top 3: Pokemon (Red/Blue), Goldeneye, and Final Fantasy Tactics.  One thing I enjoy about Anthony's view on games is the
personal connection he has with the games he plays.  Traversing down memory lane, Anthony describes the impact that many of these games have on not only his life, but on
society and the gaming world as well.  It's cool because he uses this connection to relate to other people and their own experiences in gaming, giving his thoughts on gaming a
much more personal touch.  Thanks for coming on, Anthony, and we will definitely hear from you soon! Recording date: 06-22- 2015

  • 002. Meet the guest, Trevor!
    ReleasedJul 15, 2015
Warnings: Possible spoilers on Top 3 games. Here on Episode 2 of our newly named podcast NPC Talk, we have another new guest Trevor (also
later referred to as Zirc, but the same person!).  We also have a new intro and outro song for the podcast, written by yours truly (me).  In this episode, Trevor discusses some of
his Top 3 games, which are: Chrono Trigger, Jet Set Radio, and Mirror's Edge.  As we dive further into the podcast and star different guests, we start seeing the variances in
what people value in games, as well as many interesting similarities.  One thing I found really neat about Trevor's specific Top 3 is his focus on games that have incredibly
strong ties to their core theme or idea. These games tend to do really well against the test of time and create a special level of immersion that many other games cannot
compare.  Trevor, along with his spot on analysis, articulates his thoughts very clearly, and has a lovely voice to boot.  Speaking of which, quality upgrades and fixes are a never
ending process, but are definitely under construction for this episode.  Great to have Trevor on the show, and we will definitely hear from him again! Recording date: 06-04- 2015

  • 001. Meet the guest, Roger!
    ReleasedJul 13, 2015
Warnings: Possible spoilers on Top 3 games. In our first episode of NPC Talk, we start our grassroots conversation with Roger.  Starting off strong
with a lot plans for the future, we don't have a theme song let alone a name for the podcast quite yet.  Roger decisively starts our radio show with a high standard with some
astounding analysis of his Top 3, which as we learn is not a definite list, but rather a notable mention of some of our guests' top games.  Funnily enough, we wanted to start the
show with the Top 5, but 3 ended up being a much more reasonable number.  Roger's Top 3 games are: Super Metroid, Metal Gear Solid (series), and Guilty Gear (emphasis
on Guity Gear XX #Reload).  To this day, I am still awestruck by his perspective of these games (especially MGS2, which he explains why the mass view, such as my own, is
misconstrued) and Roger continues to prove he's a true gamer at heart. Recording Date: 05-30- 2015
