Congratulations, we’ve made it halfway through fall semester! You’ve finally settled into a rhythm with your classes, and you’ve developed a routine for completing assignments on time. However…there might be that one class. That one class where so many things aren’t making sense, or where you keep narrowly missing your desired grades on quizzes or papers. Let’s make one thing clear: that’s okay! Everybody struggles in classes from time to time, or just wants to develop better studying habits. And that leads us to this episode’s topic: Tutoring Services! Coordinator Julie Czyrny and Accounting tutor Alessia Randazzo are here to tell you all about the wonderful benefits of tutoring, and the common stigmas and myths surrounding it in general. Let’s have a listen!

Social events can be exciting and scary at the same time! Not everybody loves to socialize and meet new people. It can be uncomfortable, awkward, and way more anxiety-inducing than sitting in your dorm scrolling through social media. But sometimes, it’s more beneficial than not to make new connections, share a few laughs, and participate in school activities. Well, not sometimes; always! And here to back this claim up, with advice and memories, is sophomore Eric Stoj. He’s excited to detail his freshman year experience attending the New Business Student Kickoff. And, as a bonus, you might learn a fun fact or two about his traveling experiences. Let’s tune into his NU Story!

Life right after graduating college can seem nerve-wracking, especially without any previous guidance. You might know what career path you’d like to pursue, but with no professional experience or references, you could be faced with job interviews with no idea about how to apply what you’ve learned in your business courses in the real world. Well, fellow business students, there’s no need to panic, especially with the fantastic resources available to you through the Holzschuh College of Business Mentorship Program. And here to give you all the details is its coordinator, Professor Yaz Sarkees! This program offers so many opportunities, so let’s dive into it!

It’s time for the New Business Student Kickoff! This is our annual social, informational, and educational event open to freshmen, transfer students, and undeclared majors. There’s a lot to look forward to: panel discussions, icebreakers, prizes, and so much more! You might be unsure about if you’re going to attend this year, but here to convince you is Professor Mitch Alegre, who can give you all the inside info on why this is definitely a fun event that you don’t want to miss. The New Business Student Kickoff takes place Friday, Sept. 20 from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the Gallagher Center.

Freshman year can be scary. But exciting! And also a lot at once. But super welcoming! You might feel pulled in a lot of directions during your first semester, especially if you’re dorming for the first time, trying to figure out how to organize your studying schedule right off the bat, and struggling to adapt after four years of your high school mindset. Well, freshmen, Connor Sempert knows exactly what you’re all going through! A sophomore here at NU, he successfully survived his freshman year…although not completely scot-free. He’s here to put you all at ease, with his NU Story!

Well, fellow business students, it’s time for you to meet our fantastic Dean of the Holzschuh College of Business: Dr. Mark Frascatore! Maybe you’ve already passed him in the hallway without knowing it, or you’ve found yourself near the Dean’s Office and wondered, “Should I stop in and say hello?” Well, he’s saying hello now, to all of us! And he’s here to formally welcome the incoming freshmen, as well as to remind us of the best upcoming events in the business school. You might even learn a fun fact about what vehicle he drives to campus every day. Let’s sit down for a quick chat at the Dean’s Desk!
