In the European football tournaments, Aston Villa’s amazingcomeback win against PSG wasn’t quite enough to make the Champions League semi-finals, but Arsenal had a memorable away win over Real Madrid that now sees them play PSG in he semis. In the Europa League Manchester United’s 3 goals in extra time cancelled out Lyon’s 2 extra time goals to give them an unbelievable 7-6 win. Spurs also made it into the semi finals with a 1-0 win. And whilst Chelsea lost the second leg of their Europa Conference tie, they went through to the last 4 thanks to a 4-2 aggregate score against Legia Warsaw.
League leaders Hull Kingston Rovers won the derby againstsecond placed Hull FC in the “Rivals Round” of Rugby League’s Super League, whilst Leigh moved 3rd with a win over Warrington, and Wigan beat local rivals St Helens to go 4th. Meanwhile in Netball it was a top of the table clash, with London Pulse beating Manchester Thunder 61-56 to extend their unbeaten start to the season to 5 games.
In cricket’s Indian Premier League, Rajasthan Royals openerVaibhan Suryavanshi set a record as the youngest ever IPL player. The 14-year old seemed unfazed as he hit his first ball for 6 on his way to 34. And West Indies Women’s team missed out on qualification for October’s World Cup by just 0.01 runs on net run rate – the first time in over 20-years that they’ve not qualified.
