「and they assembled all the congregation

together on the first day of the second month;

and they recited their ancestry by families,

by their fathers' houses,

according to the number of names,

from twenty years old and above,

each one individually.」　　Amen.

 The Israelites leaving Sinai for Canaan were first ordered to take a population census. This is where the title “Numbers” came from. The Israelites needed to not only be born Israelites, but also to define their lineage. We believed in Jesus and became children of God. We still need to be aware of this and make it clear.

　May we be thankful that our names are inscribed in the Book of Life today....
