EXCERPT FROM THE BLOG: After sharing my list and some of my challenges regarding accessibility, I left my friend speechless.  She couldn’t understand why there weren’t many options.  Being a mother of a deaf child, I learned early that gaining accessibility for my son was challenging.  I guess I got used to it.  Her shock reminded me that it shouldn’t be that way.  I am still learning ASL.  So, teaching yoga and signing at the same time while speaking can be SUPER difficult for me.  I also speak Spanish so speaking Spanish, signing ASL, and teaching yoga is another switch.  However, I have done it before to welcome members to the class.  Yoga has offered so many benefits to me.  So, when someone comes to my class speaking a different language than the rest of the class, I try my best to accommodate them.  I want them to feel welcomed.

Anyway, she asked, why don’t I focus on the accessibility piece as my priority versus nude yoga?  I explained to her that I didn’t wish to seem as if I am taking the place of a Deaf Yoga instructor.  I do not wish to unintentionally be accused of AUDISM.
