Public sector nurses and midwives in NSW will strike today against the Labor government's proposed 9.5% pay increase over three years, which they argue fails to keep up with inflation and worsens real wages. 

With living costs for "employee households" rising by 6.2% last year, the offer falls short of addressing their concerns. 

The NSW Nurses and Midwives' Association has organized rallies following months of smaller protests.
