Wreck Your Perfection

Nurturing The Whole Human Through Dance with Denise Vogt

Listen Later

For the first episode of 2020, I had the honor of interviewing Denise Vogt. Denise is the co-director of Ballet Royale MN, the first and only school in Minnesota to fully integrate Progressing Ballet Technique® cross-training classes into its core curriculum, and since its inception has run a “Heath and Wellness” series that includes nutrition, injury prevention, and healthy mind-body awareness. Denise is also the artistic director of Twin Cities Ballet, a non-profit dance company which puts on full-length original ballets each year, one of which featured a live band as part of the set, performing Pink Floyd’s The Wall in its entirety. A warning that we do talk about disordered eating at one point in the episode, so if that is a trigger for you, you might want to skip this episode.

Check out Denise's school, Ballet Royale Minnesota, and her dance company, Twin Cities Ballet. If you're in the midwest, I highly recommend going to see one of their ballets. Live dance is such a transformative experience that brings beauty into the world and has the power to speak to the spirit.
