But the actual sleep compound may be triethylene glycol, a simple organic molecule found in the leaf (not the root) that shows direct sleep-inducing activity in animal models via GABA-A modulation.

Curcumin's oral bioavailability is <1%. The industry has spent billions on delivery systems (phytosomes, nanoemulsions, piperine).

But emerging evidence suggests that curcumin's gut metabolite - tetrahydrocurcumin - is the primary systemic active.

If the metabolite is doing the work, the bioavailability "problem" might actually be the delivery mechanism.

Bisdemethoxycurcumin makes up only ~3% of the curcuminoid complex, yet it's the most potent NF-kB inhibitor of the three curcuminoids.

The dominant compound, curcumin itself (~77%), is actually the weakest at nuclear translocation inhibition. The industry standardizes on "95% total curcuminoids", treating three molecules with different mechanisms as one.

Fresh ginger is rich in 6-gingerol.

Drying converts gingerols to shogaols. 6-Shogaol is 2-3x more potent than 6-gingerol for anti-inflammatory activity and activates TRPV1 (pain receptor).

This means dried ginger extract is pharmacologically different from fresh ginger extract. The processing method creates a different medicine. Most product labels don't distinguish between the two.
