Days ago, Special Counsel Robert Mueller ended his 675-day investigation into alleged Russian influence in our 2016 national election. He announced that no additional indictments should be sought, which appears to clear President Donald Trump and his family of the most serious suspicions of collusion with Moscow or other wrongdoing.

Mueller’s findings can help heal America’s body politic from this controversy, which has been turning human love into polarized, partisan hatred.

A new survey by matchmakers OkCupid finds that since 2016, the percentage of people who consider a potential date’s political compatibility more important than romantic qualities has surged from 23 to 30 percent of men and from 27 to 42 percent of women.

The left has politicized love itself.

Reporting this survey, the New York Post quoted several liberal women who admitted their romantic relations with conservative men were much more satisfying than being with leftist “pajama boys.”

The just-released General Social Survey at the University of Chicago found that “41 percent of Democrats are without a steady partner, compared with only 29 percent of Republicans.” This, reported the Washington Post, “has helped drive singledom to a record high among the overall public.”

 “Women are having fewer children, and they’re having them later in life,” according to the Washington Post. “The median age of first marriage is increasing. And according to a 2017 report from the Pew Research Center, among those who have never married but are open to it, most say a major reason is because they haven’t found the right person.”

Growing evidence now shows that women find “Mr. Right” on the political right, not among permanently infantilized male leftovers.

“Republicans tend to have happier marriages than do Democrats,” writes Professor Nicholas Wolfinger of the University of Utah.

“Political independents have sex even more often than Republicans,” he writes, but independents “cheat [on their mates] at the same [high] rate Democrats do.”
