Celebrate episode 10 with me! Here, I reveal Pillar 3 of the Nutrition Insight Project.
I’ve organized and presented the big ideas behind the Nutrition Insight project into 3 main Pillars. Nothing magical about there being 3 - it's just a convenient way to talk about this process of nutrition change and evolution.
To recap, the first pillar is one of the central tenants that I address with my toolkit and mentorship - developing Nutrition Insight 😊 Developing self-awareness, clarity, intuition, and deep knowing. Being able to tune into our experience - if something is not aligned with our nutrition - eating, body image, exercise habits, health habits, etc., are we ready to make changes? Coming at the process with gentle curiosity and openness, and being awake and honest with ourselves throughout.
Pillar Two is - DOING the thing, working on making the changes to support your physical and mental health. With the foundation of self-compassion, getting back into alignment the best we can. Do I need more structure or less structure with my eating and movement? Can I work on taking care of my body and treating it with unconditional respect? Am I willing to unpack the potential barriers or self-defeating stories that threaten to derail me or pull me back into destructive habits? If I’m overwhelmed, confused, or feel stuck, can we reach out to support people we trust to find the type of support we need?
Pillar three is recognizing and being open to our nutritional needs (and really health needs in general) evolving over time. Not getting too rigid or tied to any one framework, and being open to changing our minds and our habits over time, should that be required to regain our health and equilibrium.
The goal is to be emotionally durable and to have developed robust coping skills such that when changes and challenges come up (which they will), we can keep perspective and course correct, all while keeping in mind the foundation of self-compassion.
I end this episode with a life and work update :) more exciting things are brewing around here.
