Are you a high-achieving, type-A woman who is stressed or pushing yourself almost to burnout? If yes, you need strategies to avoid or treat adrenal fatigue. The adrenal glands speak to the hypothalamus and the thyroid gland. Often, when someone is experiencing symptoms like fatigue, weight gain, or is stressed or burned out, the adrenal glands are the place to begin to evaluate treatment options. There are nutrition strategies to avoid adrenal fatigue, give you more energy, and help you achieve sustainable health. In addition, you need to change your thought process from more is better. This isn't necessarily true, in fact, and your body needs rest and you must de-stress to get your hormones back in order. Food and nutrition also influences your brain and your mental health. Start with diet and exercise - when appropriate Robyn, as a former pharmacist, emphasized that Western medicine, or pharmaceuticals, are great when appropriate. But nutrition and exercise are very important and often, the best place to begin before starting medication therapy. However, there may be times when both are necessary to get the body and/or brain regulated to a normal state. Every person responds differently to each treatment therefore, it's hard to say how long you can try one or the other to know if the therapy is working. Hormones may take 3 to 6 months to regulate once medical or non-medical therapies are initiated. Medication may speed up results, however, it is individual-specific. And people may feel worse before they feel better. This is why you need to work with an expert in the area of the disease you are experiencing. It's important to notice little shifts. You may be focused on big results, especially with weight loss or energy, but when you notice small shifts, you will see progress and build momentum. What are the adrenal glands? The adrenal glands are tiny, almond-sized glands that sit in the back body above each kidney. They are small but mighty in terms of function. The purpose of the adrenal glands is to process incoming stress and help the body respond to the stresses effectively to help the body stay as close to homeostasis as possible. Adrenal glands also influence the immune system. In addition, the adrenal glands work with the thyroid to manage metabolism. They have many additional functions including fluid regulation, digestion, and brain health.   Read the full show notes and access all links. Download the Intro to SEO for Entrepreneurs video.
