Nutty Bites: Borderline – Dinner and a Movie – Dog Days of Podcasting 2018

Borderline is a British show about a customs department of a small airport. It has a very The Office vibe to it, without feeling mean like the UK version had. There is even the romantic tension between co-workers, the boss that is desperate for people to love them, and the slightly sycophantic socially awkward underling. Yet it departs from the Office in many ways as each of these characters are their own and the stories don't follow the same path. Some characters you start out not liking turn out to be some of your favorites and some that you thought you liked seem more shallow as you get to know them. It's 22minute episodes of non laugh track comedy that I really enjoy. Rather than pair it with a stale sandwich I'm going to pair this with a set of curry and chips from the take away van.

Nutty Bites: The Good Place – Dinner and a Movie – Dog Days of Podcasting 2018

The Good Place is another show I had heard a lot about. I will be serious, I only watched it because I love watching Kristen Bell. There is something about the roles she plays that I like. Even when she is evil she is captivating and fun. This show is a nice mix of her different types of characters and I had a blast watching her. Better yet, the supporting characters also engaged me.

Nutty Bites: Son of Zorn – Dinner and a Movie – Dog Days of Podcasting 2018

Son of Zorn was a failed show from FOX, but it was hilarious. It was a stupid funny show that I loved. Sadly, because I'm a cord cutter I couldn't really watch it live. I also heard absolutely nothing about it. So I'm thinking this is another case of FOX not knowing what they had and not promoting a good show. I dug it, and they used the mixed mediums of live action and animation in a way that told a story, they should get credit for that.

Nutty Bites: Kim's Convenience – Dinner and a Movie – Dog Days of Podcasting 2018

Kim's Convenience is a CBC show that I had heard a lot about but never tuned in. Mostly because I don't have TV, but then it came on Netflix. Then my sister told me she loved it, so I had to try it out. I'm not big into sitcoms but I liked this. This is a typical CBC family comedy. I am reminded for some reason of Little Mosque on the Prairie. Likely because one of the gust stars was a regular on that show. It is quirky and fun with some authentic and relatable family elements. I'm into it. I have watched two seasons and will watch more when the third hits Netflix.

Nutty Bites: The Let Down – Dinner and a Movie – Dog Days of Podcasting 2018

The Let Down is a show on Netflix that on paper, is entirely not my kind of show, but the humor makes it my kind of show. At first it looks like my greatest fear but it is more about women helping women and people letting go of what they think they should be doing. How everyone needs to find their own way. I loved it, and it's hard to explain why.

Nutty Bites: Thor Ragnarok – Dinner and a Movie – Dog Days of Podcasting 2018

Thor Ragnarok is the only good Thor movie IMO. I just never really got into the other movies, but this one had the levity and character structure that kept me engaged and enjoying the characters and plot. I need to care about characters and in the previous films I really didn't care, which is odd because I love Hemsworth's Thor, I just didn't like him in his own movie.

Nutty Bites: One Punch Man! – Dinner and a Movie – Dog Days of Podcasting 2018

One Punch Man is such a fun anime I had to include it with dinner and a movie. I love how the art style changes as the scene gets more serious; I love how Satima is nonchalant; I love the world and the secondary characters; I love how the lamest super power turns out to be the most powerful. I'm also digging the manga. This is one of those shows that is a lot of fun to share with others, I have friends and family who are into it, and that often makes things more interesting. The art I used for today's episode is art I made of Rory cosplaying as Satima.

Nutty Bites: Ugly Delicious – Dinner and a Movie – Dog Days of Podcasting 2018

Ugly Delicious is a title that might make you think the show is about something else. It's actually using each episode to take a deep dive into different foods. David Chang and friends explore things like Fried Chicken, Pizza, Tacos, Crawfish, Comfort Food, ect, by going around the world and asking people what these things mean to them. What does food mean to them. As a foodie, I love this show, and it's especially fun to watch during supper.

Nutty Bites: Red Dwarf – Dinner and a Movie – Dog Days of Podcasting 2018

I love Red Dwarf, and somehow in my multiple recordings, the final recording I didn't mention how the IntroCast brought some really great friends into my life. I love you guys. Still, I love this show and of course I was pairing it with something Lister eats a lot of. Now where is my London Jets jersey, I need it to practice my favorite song on the guitar. It's called Ummm.
