Jonathan’s actions remind us that leadership is not about securing power but about serving others, lifting them up, and protecting them. His loyalty to David, despite the cost to himself, his courage in the face of potential conflict, and his transparency with David all serve as a model for how we should approach leadership today. Whether in a church, business, or family context, these timeless principles of integrity, loyalty, and trust will create environments where people thrive and where God’s purposes are fulfilled.

Effective leadership requires integrity, and courage, and a focus on the benefit of others, not ourselves.

This is exactly what Jonathan exemplified. He showed that we can stand up for what's right even when it's difficult. In contrast to Saul, who is totally insecure and demonstrates how a downfall of someone is precipitated by pride, insecurity, jealousy, and poor decision making.

Patience is a paradox. The less time you have in this world the more you need to exercise patience. Understanding that God can do more in 1 second than we can do in 1 month or even 1 year is key to using patience as a tool to make good decisions.
