So, what are we to do? What role has and does connection play in our lives as mothers? 5 mamas share thier experience, along with ideas on why and how to make connection happen in your life.

As we create and move through our lives as mothers, we often do so with filters and boundaries built up over years and years of beliefs and habits. What we expect, how we speak to and see ourselves, how we connect, react, butter our toast.

Beliefs about who we are-- what parts of us are unworthy of feeling okay about. What success means, what makes us valuable. From the biggest questions of whether or not God or the universe has meaning or awareness of us, to the scientific and medical sureties of our day, to the deciding to reject or rescript the voice in our own head-- our beliefs root and filter our reality, and our awareness and confrontation of them is life-changing.

They are such a part of us, so familiar to us and how we experience our lives, it can be hard and disorienting to even pull them off long enough to turn them over a few times in our hands. This idea, though by no means new, is one that is worth repeating and rethinking over and over again.

The environments in which we mother, and learn to mother, are not static, nor are they merely physical. But we can and will begin thinking about and reflecting on how our environment impacts us, by listening to mothers speak on the question:   “How does where you live/have lived influence how you mother?”

What we believe, makes us who we are. It literally changes what our brains perceive, what we experience, and how we feel about it all. Six Mothers reflect on these questions of believing and choosing and letting go.

Sometimes, either subconsciously or not, we see motherhood and mothering as falling within some pre-decided boundaries, some easier-to-categorize definition or short list of truths. When in reality, motherhood is humans, living lives. And it is as fascinating and complex and impossible to bound in as life itself.

In this episode we listen to women reflect on and share how what they are passionate about has influenced how they mother, and how their Motherhood has influenced their passions.

Depending on a thousand different things, the word mother, sinks or floats in the mind, entangled and illuminated by the emotions and lives we have lived and known. It is not, we are not, any ONE thing. This is a podcast to listen. To women, and their stories. Of how mothering has and does effect and guide, how self expands and whole worlds change.

We, who by choice or otherwise, find ourselves as mothers, often live in a world without villages. And so, while we are hyper -connected and tracked and seen in more ways than ever, the story-telling, experience sorting, wisdom sharing, has been somewhat lost.

I wanted to hear mothers, talking about their own life in their own voice. To add color and dimension to our understanding of mother.  Each episode will feature a diverse collection of mothers, all responding to the same question. Questions will roam from philosophical to practical, mother centric to otherwise.
