David and Goliath is one the most famous stories in all of the Bible. We love it because it carries with it the idea of the massive underdog overcoming insurmountable odds to win. And we love it because it inspires us to have courage like David to go and "Face Our Giants." But what if we got the story all wrong? What if we missed the point? What if David never viewed himself as an underdog? And what if David is more than just an example but a pointer to a greater Deliverer?

We have one short life; our days are numbered. The sooner we embrace this reality the sooner we get a heart of wisdom that overflows with God's love to a world that's falling apart.

Everyone has regrets. Some are small like the "if-only's" and missed opportunities all of us experience in life. But some are big like the past sins that haunt us and stay with us even to this day. So, how do we get rid of the stain of our past? Thankfully, Jesus came to cleanse us from our sin and shame and crown us with love and honor.

Have you ever had a time in your life when God seemed distant and silent? When you couldn't see what He was doing, and so you found yourself asking, "How long will this go on, God? How long before you answer me? How long before you intervene and make things better? How long?" If that's you, you're not alone. Even King David experienced moments like these. But in his time of pain and sadness, rather than stuffing it or numbing it, he came to God with his raw and honest questions. And these humble prayers provided a path for him (and for us) to move from pain and despair to trust in God's love. In a culture where women were treated as second-class citizens, Jesus chose Mary Magdalene to be the first witness to the resurrection. Hers was a story of overwhelming darkness and sadness until she met Jesus. She owed everything to Christ and stood by her Savior with an unwavering love. Seeing the risen Jesus changed her life forever! Have you seen Jesus with the eyes of your heart?

Paul’s message to the Thessalonian church is that life is hard, God is good, and glory is coming. But as Christians, we live in waiting—waiting for Christ to return in glory. While we wait, Paul encourages us to pray for the gospel to continue to spread, work quietly and earn our living (live as Christians where God’s planted us), and cultivate a healthy church.

Why do so many Christians seem to be fearful instead of hopeful when they think about the future? Though the end of the world is coming (and with it the Anti-Christ and his powers of deception) as Christians we can stand firm on the truth that God is sovereign!

You and I weren't created to live 70 or 80 years and then die. We were created for eternity. Every single human being is going to live forever in one of two places. If you're convinced that's true, how is it affecting your life today? How are you living in light of eternity?

The Apostle Paul's vision for the church is to be a peaceful family. But to be at peace is only possible through the God of peace. And because of his grace the church can be a faint glimmer of heaven on earth even now.
