In today's scripture reading Mark 14:12-26, we find an account of the Lord instituting the ordinance of the church. As we consider the Lord's table this morning, we want to see it's connection with the symbolism of Passover, and we want to see that it is meant to be shared with other believers to the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

This morning we're going to see opposite attitudes regarding our Lord. Some will oppose the Lord no matter what. They will seek to silence anyone who teaches what Jesus taught. Others will be totally dedicated to the Lord - but that often means they will face criticism not only from those who oppose the Lord, but from those who follow Him as well. The primary point of this passage is: Worship of the Lord is always worthhile!

Don't leave God out of your plans. He holds the future!

The Christ we celebrate at Christmas is much more than just the baby born in the manger - He is Christ with us!

In today's passage, Jesus reveals the cosmic events that will signal His return immediately following the tribulation.

As we face a world in disarray, many mistakenly consider the things that happen to be random events that have no purpose behind them. Our Lord teaches us something contrary to this idea. And unfortunately, things are going to get worse before they get better. In the text this morning, we'll be looking into prophecy concerning the great tribulation, the antichrist, and the many false Christs and prophets who will come. Jesus warns people of all ages to be on their guard.

As we go through the end times, we must keep our eyes on our mission. The ministry of the Holy Spirit will help us to stand firm in our faith until the end.

In the first part of today's scripture reading, Jesus corrects the sol-called religious experts of His time regarding their misguided interpretation of scripture (and therefore, their misleading of the people of Israel) regarding their understanding of who the Christ (Messiah) would be and why He would come. He also teaches His disciples the difference between being a proud giver and a humble giver, showing them that calling attention to oneself makes our service about us when it should be about Him!

As we look into today's passage, we're going to see a spiritual leader ask Jesus what the most import command is. Our Lord's answer surprised him and enlightened him. We need to consider Jesus' words today as well. We need to ask ourselves: do I love God and love others? Or am I committed to an outward system of rules and rituals that leave me cold and disconnected from God?

If your eyes are fixed on God, you will hve the proper perspective on life, work, and money. Once your focus is above the sun (on God and the eternal, and not on this world), your attitude towards life, work, and money will change for the better.
