Our admission into glory is because He added humanity to deity.

After a warning to us to not take the salvation we have in Christ lightly, the author of Hebrews returns to the argument he has made concerning Christ’s superiority to the angels.

Introduction-Our Lord is God’s ultimate revelation as the radiance of His glory-Our Lord is the creator of the universe-Our Lord is our Savior who provided for our sins-Our Lord is God eternal who will reign forever

The writer of Hebrews continues his discussion on the superiority of the Son in verses 5-14. The first word of the 5th verse, “for”, expands on the point that Jesus is superior to the angels because He is the Son of God.

God is the God of revelation. He makes Himself known to man. He isnt a distant deity. He is the God of truth and self-expressiion.

Paul shares his closing thoughts with Timothy, realizing his days in ministry were over, his days were in fact, number, because he would soon be facing the executioners. He shares his certainty of the continuation of his minstry because of Timothy and his other co-workers and most of all, because of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Paul recognized that eternal things are way more important than the things of this life. Rather than living our lives for ourselves, we need to live them for our God. We are to be living sacrifices that honor our Lord and seek to please Him – our offering ourselves to God is to be our spiritual act of worship.

In the closing chapter of 2 Timothy Paul gives his protégé a series of final instructions. The closing thoughts of this book were the last recorded words of the Apostle. He would soon be martyred for his faith and his work in the ministry.Paul’s greatest concern was for the church of His Lord. He recognized that strong churches come from a strong commitment to God’s truth and the faithful preaching of God’s Word.That’s why in the passage we’ll be looking into this morning Paul stressed to Timothy the importance of preaching God’s Word with diligence and hard work. He also warns Timothy that teachers will spring up who water down God’s word or disregard it altogether. That’s why he calls Timothy and all who serve the church through the ministry of the Word to preach the Word that is inspired by the Holy Spirit – the word that teaches, rebukes, corrects, and trains in righteousness - the Word that makes us adequate and equipped for doing good.

A key truth we've seen thus far in 2 Timothy is the truth of God revealed in scripture is essential for us to support and stand up for. However, in standing up for God's Word we don't mean to merely speak on its behalf. Living out the truth of God even in the face of opposition is also essential. We can talk all we want to about the truth of God and the importance of God to us, but until we live it, what have we accomplished? This morning we want to see that standing on God's Word can have its costs as far as opposition and even persecution, but God has provided His Word to strengthen us and guide us through the toughest journey.

The Bible says that the last days will bring teriible times. And it seems that the times have never been worse then they are now. We see people making bad decisions and a general societal decline in morals. Today's text encourages us to examine ourselves to make sure we are not spiraling away from God's truth.
