The promise to Abraham and Sarah is fulfilled. Hagar and Ismael are sent away and  God intervenes.

God reaffirms his covenant promise to Abram in a way Abram will understand it. We also see an example of how our faith gives us the confidence to ask the Lord the questions we have on our hearts. 

Abram is shown favor when his nephew gets caught up in a regional war. God is always in control and will reward faithfulness!

Abram returns from Egypt and faces a dilemma with Lot. Will he show faith in God's plan?

We begin to learn about the life of Abram, and through him we learn that faith is molded and developed by God as we are incapable of perfectly following His will without His guidance.
