If you read the stories of David in the Old Testament, it's fair to say that this was a guy who wore his heart on his sleeve. At one point in the Psalms he writes:
"My heart is in anguish within me; the terrors of death have fallen on me. Fear and trembling have beset me; horror has overwhelmed me"
- but at other times he's jealous, he's angry, he's joyful, he's disappointed, and he mourns so unreservedly that he rips his clothes off and collapses to the floor.
Whatever David did, he did it Wholeheartedly – and over the next four weeks, we'll be exploring these emotions. Nathan Palmer introduces how we can see David and focuses in his disappointments and what we can learn for how we navigate those moments in our lives.
Bible texts: 1 Samuel 16 through 1 Kings 2, 1 Chronicles 11–29, and the many of the Psalms.
