Ifrah Kanwal had to leave an abusive arranged marriage, and she had to learn how her voice mattered as she built her life back up. Host Rebecca Dollinger talks to Ifrah about the experience, and  unearths all the ways the various forms of abuse wreaked havoc on her emotional life. The toll it all took on her self esteem was brutal, and she had to rediscover herself on a path of courage, confidence, and character.

Ifrah also describes her journey back into the workforce. Not everyone was supportive of situation. Going to attorneys, getting counseling, figuring out all the details of a lifestyle of employment was a struggle, too. Her greatest advice came from her mother, reminding her she could no longer 'wallow in self-pity', she had to get out there, for the job, and for the recovery! 

Rebecca champions Ifrah's courage and bravery! Gratitude for what she has is a core discipline, and taking care of her family and community keep her head in the game.  She's glad today that she got out of that danger, and says, "you have to love yourself enough to move forward." Her new dating protocols are impressive, and more and more women are taking greater precautions to ensure they are not getting into something that's dangerous.
