Obedience

Listen Later

Have you ever thought about obedience?

In this season of my life, I’m learning that obedience rarely makes sense. Scripture makes that clear. Noah didn’t understand why he was building an ark when rain was not falling. David didn’t always understand the path God placed before him. Queen Esther didn't know what could happen to her and the rest of the Jewish when she stood in front of the King. Even Jesus, in His humanity, wrestled with obedience.

Obedience places you in a territory where control no longer belongs to you. And maybe that’s the first step, releasing control. Obedience means yielding to something higher than yourself.

We like to say, “Just trust God completely,” but when logic and faith don’t align, believe, trust can feel complicated. Still, obedience doesn’t require full understanding; it requires surrender.

If you’re going to believe, then believe and obey. Trying to fully make sense of obedience may only delay the very step you’re meant to take. And delay matters. Timing matters. Obedience delayed can change the outcome.

Imagine if Noah had postponed building the ark.

Imagine if David had refused to act when God called.

Imagine if Queen Esther had chosen fear instead of fasting and praying.

Imagine if Jesus had said, “Not today”

Let's obey TODAY

Even when it doesn’t make sense.

Even when it feels frightening.

Because obedience may be costly, but IT IS ALWAYS WORTHY!

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.”

Proverbs 3:5–6
