We have all been created by God to fulfill a purpose on earth. The Apostle Paul understood that his purpose was to preach the Gospel in Rome and to Caesar. While being transported as a prisoner to Rome, the ship was hit by a fierce storm that threatened to destroy it and all those on board. An angel visited Paul and assured him that all aboard would live and that he would in fact stand before Caesar. Miraculously, everyone on the ship survived as the Angel foretold, and they ran aground on the island of Malta. There, Paul was miraculously protected when bitten by a venomous viper, opening the door for him to preach the gospel to the natives and all who witnessed it.
