“Someone in My Family Has a Mental Illness” is designed to be used with children by counselors, mental health practitioners and other professionals in the community. It is also designed for parents and caregivers who wish to educate their children about mental illness.

Here is a fun activity where I work on improving motor planning and upper extremity endurance.  During the activity we may pretend that we are building a time machine or fixing a car. 

Space.....the thing that every OT needs. However, there are school and pediatric settings with limited space and resources.  In these situations you may not be able to have scooter-boards or trampolines, you have to find a different method.  Though nothing is as good as the real thing, virtual reality can provide an alternative to supplement your treatment protocol.

Grief isn’t the easiest thing to talk about. It can come in many forms and stem from many things. Losing your job, a difficult medical diagnosis, or losing a loved one are all things that can make us experience grief.  Simply put, grief is an emotional response to loss. There can be varied responses, such as those that are physical or behavioral. How we respond to loss varies widely and the important thing to remember is whatever you experience is okay.
