It's thought that cattle missing from Ballyshannon may be mixed in with other herds in the area.

A further appeal has been issued over the 13 animals that are missing for over two months now.

The livestock is said to be worth thousands of euro.

Gardai have been notified and anyone with information is being urged to contact them in Ballyshannon.

Local farmer Patrick has been giving more details about the cattle and says he cannot sustain the loss:

It's emerged that a winning Lotto ticket sold in Donegal is still up for grabs.

€500,000 has yet to be claimed after a punter in Ardara bought the winning ticket.

The new defective concrete blocks bill has been described as a missed opportunity to address many shortcomings in the existing remediation scheme.

This week, the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage announced Government has approved a series of legislative amendments designed to improve supports for homeowners affected by defective concrete blocks.

But several homeowners are said be confused due to a lack clarity around exact percentage increases they can expect and there are fears that some will have to fork out tens of thousands of euro as the result of inflation.

Donegal Animals in Need are warning they are already at crisis point ahead of the festive season.

The closure of the ISPCA centre in Letterkenny earlier this year has resulted in the Donegal Town based charity being placed under unprecedented pressure.

Coupled with this is the expected rise in animal surrender in the days after Christmas.

Gitta McMullin from Donegal Animals in Need says they are already full to capacity and is strongly advising families to rethink potentially getting a pet at Christmas:

It's being claimed that over 20 vehicles have been damaged in recent weeks as a result of the state of roads in the Ballisodare area.

The roads in question were recently dug up to facilitate water works by Uisce Eireann.

It's understood that repair works on road surfaces in the area was carried out by Irish Water last night.

Local Councillor Thomas Walsh says the number of tyres and wheels that were unnecessarily damaged as a direct result of this is a cause of concern.

He says it also led to safety issues for road users.

The Fine Gael Councillor says People are rightly very annoyed about this and we must ensure a better system is put in place.

The funeral of the former Fine Gael minister for justice Paddy Cooney will take place later this morning in Athlone.

Mr Cooney died last week at the age of 94.

He served as a minister in various cabinet roles including Education, Defence, justice and Transport, Posts and Telegraphs.

He also served as a MEP and senator for Fine Gael.

For a period of time he operated a legal practice in Drumshanbo in County Leitrim back in the late 1950's

Local Councillor Enda McGloin says it was a practice that attracted large numbers from the wider Drumshanbo area

Donegal County Council is to write to the Government in support of local school secretaries and caretakers.

It’s claimed that they feel effectively duped out of strike action earlier this year.

Negotiations are ongoing but if they do not get pay parity, they will be back at the picket line in the New Year.
