An application has been lodged with Sligo County Council seeking to transform the former Brooks Timber and Building Supplies site in Finisklin into a state-of-the-art recreational facility featuring ten Padel courts.
The proposal by Belfast International Watersports Ltd includes seven indoor and three outdoor courts, along with changing facilities, offices, and new signage.
Padel, a fast-growing sport described as a mix between squash and tennis, is praised for its inclusivity and social benefits.
Speaking to Ocean FM News, Cllr Mulvey says he hopes the council will look favorably on the plans, describing it as an exciting addition to Sligo’s sporting scene.
