A North Leitrim Councillor says the creation of a new camping site in Kiltyclogher will help attract more tourists into the area.
Concerns over the lack of tourism accommodation have been sounded in in the areas for a long period of time.
Kiltyclogher Community Council have lodged a successful application with Leitrim County Council to develop the recreational site at the town's community centre.
The project will consist of a single-storey camp site amenity building, which could service five campervan pitches and five tents.
A sauna, fire pit seating area and other amenities are also included in the plans.
The project the go-ahead subject to 12 conditions.
