This week concludes a two-week series on reconciliation. We’ll read more of the story with Jacob and Esau, two brothers who came into this world fighting and competing with one another and whose birth story set the tone for the rest of their lives. These two were always at odds. In Part 1, we explored how humility is a necessary precursor to reconciliation. We marveled at how Jacob wrestles with God and emerges with a limp and a new name. We asked ourselves if we need to wrestle with God, and if there are any “names” we need to let go of, allowing God to transform us into someone new. This week we’ll take an honest look at the encounter between Jacob and his brother to see what their reconciliation was like… and if it has anything to do with ours.
