Reproof
• Failing to show hospitality at all
• Fear of strangers
• Only speaking kindness without showing kindness
o “But if anyone has the world’s goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God’s love abide in him? 18Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth.” (1 Jn 3:17–18, ESV)
• Hospitality that is sporadic or sparse
• Being selective in hospitality to only people you “like” rather than in need
• Expecting to be repaid for hospitality
• Grumbling and complaining over the difficult of hospitality
• Thinking your home is your own rather than the Lord's
• Forgetting Christ’s bringing you near when you were a stranger to him
• Neglecting other believers and forgetting they belong to Christ
• Hospitality that is disconnected from God’s word
• Serving in your own strength
• Looking to be praised for your service, rather than giving all glory to God
• Forgetting the heavenly hospitality Jesus will lavish upon us
