= a very long time，而且感觉是没有尽头（endless）

这个短语可以追溯到18世纪中叶、19世纪早期，由于宗教限制，在星期日不可以进行娱乐活动，会感觉时间过得特别慢，就产生了这样一个表达 a month of Sundays。

A month of Sundays 通常会用在否定句中（和 not 一起用），比如：

I haven't seen Barbara in a month of Sundays.

我已经很久很久没有见到芭芭拉了。

这句话也可以说成 I haven't seen Barbara for a (very) long time.

因为时间太久，a month of Sundays 还有一个延伸的意思就是“（某事）很可能不会发生”。

Not in a month of Sundays! 

不可能！没戏！

= Never!
