无花果 fig

无花果是人类最早种植的植物之一，在热带和温带广泛种植，无花果价格相对便宜。早在1400年，fig无花果就是不值钱的代名词，所以就有短语叫not worth a fig（worth 形容词，值……钱）一文不值。

这节课我们要学的惯用语是

一点也不在乎，根本不在乎，毫不在乎，完全不放在心上

care 在乎，在意

I don't care a fig.

我一点也不在乎。

他们愿意说什么都行，我根本不在乎。

问：这句话说They can say what they like. I don't care.是不是一样的？

答：一样的。I don't care（我不在乎）或者说I don't care at all（我根本不在乎）意思就是I don't give/care a fig。学这些惯用语是（为了）丰富我们的英语表达。

如果想加上对象，表示对……毫不在乎，就加个介词，比如：

I don't care a fig about making money.

我根本不在乎赚钱。

make money 赚钱，挣钱
