Odin, the ancient Norse god of war and death was idealized in Nazi Germany as a pure Aryan. A recent discovery in Denmark of a gold disc from the fourth century features a reference to the worship of Odin alongside a swastika - the symbol of prosperity and holiness that would later be used by the Nazis and the Neo-Nazis of today to symbolize a pure race like that of Nordic mythology (a race that in actuality was neither pure nor holy).
