Dracarys! After fifty episodes of podcasting, we finally turn our attention to a creature that we mention every week - the dragon! As always, we look at the myths surrounding these majestic and powerful beasts - and we have so much to talk about that we had to split the episode in two!

With the new Wizards of the Coast book out, the crew dives into the pulp fiction world of Eberron, discovering the continent of Khorvaire, the mysteries of the Mourning and the Draconic Prophecy, and the awesomeness of the warforged.

For this monster episode, we leave the traditional Monster Manual and look a little further afield. We're looking at the myths of the Algonquian tribes, specifically the wendigo! The crew look at the origins and ideas behind the wendigo, and then how it might make some appearances in your games of D&D.

Tory isn't with us again, so to get us through that disappointment, we have special guest Mike back! And we're talking about how to handle disappointment at the table, whether it's a game system not giving the players what they want, or a party being defeated before overcoming the villain, or just your character dying when you had a cool backstory planned out, we discuss how the best way to avoid too much disappointment is to communicate expectations.

As a special treat for you this week, we talk about three horror-themed tabletop roleplaying games - Vampire: the Masquerade, Call of Cthulhu, and Dread. We go through what we like about them, and how they offer a different experience to the usual D&D game. However, there's a trick for you all too - we're missing a Tory, so we've asked in a guest! Role-playing is key to a game like D&D and other games like it. One of the most vital elements to creating a fully rounded role playing character is finding their motivation, so as a companion to our 'Voices' episode, we delve a little further into getting into the head of your character, and avoiding the pitfalls that can come with the phrase "It's what my character would do."
