“Building Wings”
Of Dirt & Wildflowers: A Podcast
Hosted by Kylee Jean Marshall
In today’s episode, “Building Wings,” we will dig into the dirt of life found in the aftermath of courage and of following dreams. This is the conversation about what happens after you jump. There is a free fall and then the hard work of building wings.
Seeds to take with you from today’s episode:
∙Fear will keep you safely on the ground and never let you experience flying.
∙There is beauty in the fall–it is the thing you cannot do safely standing on a cliff.
∙The jump is exhilarating, and the wings require grit.
This episode is paired with a longer reflective companion essay on my Substack. If you would like to sit with these ideas a little longer, I kindly invite you to continue there. https://substack.com/@kyleejeanmarshall

Where are you standing comfortably on cliffs?
Are you afraid of jumping or afraid of building wings?
How can you quiet the voice of fear?
Be well! Love you, my friends.

In today’s episode, “The Pace That Healed Me,” we will dig into the dirt of life in order to better understand the juxtaposition of life is too short, so I need to do it all. In the last year, I learned that a peaceful life wasn’t just about saying no and shedding and minimizing what was on my calendar. Season 2, Episode 4
“Shedding and Unraveling”
Of Dirt and Wildflowers: A Podcast
Hosted by Kylee Jean Marshall
In today’s episode, “Shedding and Unraveling,” we will diginto the dirt of life to better understand the that in order to make room for new growth, for any growth at all, we must shed. We must clear. We must allow there to be possibility.
I don’t know if I realized what was happening until it hadalready happened – this shedding that left me both raw and also floating, free. Maybe I didn’t know it was happening because what was happening felt like complete destruction and how can destruction and devastation and loss feel likeanything other than ember weight, like sable darkness. But it was there all along, in the shedding and the unraveling, in the clearing out and the cleansing, in the pruning. It was there – it takes one hell of a fire for a phoenix to grow wings from the flames. It requires a clearing – we must create clearings in our lives – prune away all that attaches us to a season passed, past – in order to make space, make room for the impending bloom.
If today’s episode resonated with you, I would love to hear from you! Please send me an email at [email protected].

“Dancing with Life -- My 45th Birthday Tribute”
Of Dirt & Wildflowers: A Podcast
Hosted by Kylee Jean Marshall
In today’s episode, “Dancing with Life,” we will dig into the dirt of midlife. In this special reading of my recent blog, I will share with you 45 sacred truths.
April is always the idyllic reminder of the beauty in a dance. The two steps forward and the one step back. We throw open windows to welcome a soft breeze sliding down off mountain tops and release layers from our shoulders to let the sun drape itself over our winter skin. And in the next moment, we are holding onto anything not secure, not tethered to keep it from blowing away in the unrelenting wind. Two steps forward and one step back. We saunter into the wild to witness the first blooms brave the barren ground of a sleeping Earth, and we turn our faces up, eyes closed, to take in deep inhales of air broken free from winter’s hold. And in the next moment, we are running for cover as the chilled rain pelts against our exposed skin. We watch the windowpane become a kaleidoscope of watercolor and are reminded that without this, we cannot have the other. Two steps forward and one step back.
